The international NGO Fair World International was officially registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission (ACNC) in 2021. Its sister organization, Fair World Foundation, received ACNC recognition in 2015 for its purpose of combating systemic unfairness in Australia.

But unfairness, unfortunately, knows no boundaries. Given this reality, it was time to go international, and the obvious choice for our endeavours was Tanzania. It was obvious because our chairperson had been actively engaged in development projects in Tanzania since 2010. The knowledge and learning experiences gained will now be put to good use in the name of FWI and its local NGO Improving Tanzania Foundation.

Who We Are

  • Founder

The founder of Fair World International (FWI) Julian Carr, established the first project in Tanzania in 2010 - a women’s group in Mambo village (Usambara mountains) whereby the woman earned an income by making yoghurt. Over the years he gained knowledge, experience and expertise in the needs of local isolated communities.

With that came the increase need for accountability and transparency. As a result, Fair World International was registered as an Australian charity in 2021 and the Tanzanian NGO Improving Tanzania Foundation (ITF) was registered in 2022.

Julian has an Honours degree in political economy from LaTrobe University in Melbourne and studied at the School of Oriental and African Studies at London University. From these studies came a deep sense of injustice associated with the  inequities existing between Western nations and African nations.  Since 2010 Julian has been making an ever increasing effort to provide a counterweight to this historical reality.

  • Chair of Improving Tanzania Foundation

Henrish, otherwise known as Mr. Logistics, uses his considerable business skills, and knowledge of local culture and mores, to ensure that our projects are delivered sensitively, with fair pricing and as quickly as possible. His motivation to the cause is legendary.

  • Accountant

Juliana Malamsha is a qualified accountant whose main responsibility it is to produce our weekly financial reports. She it is who also staffs our office in Mambo village, and provides the statistics concerning our malnourishment program. As with all our staff, Juliana demonstrates a strong empathy to the unfair plight of her community members.

  • Lawyer

Ernest Shemweta is a newly qualified lawyer who has a strong motivation to reduce injustice and suffering in his community. He worked part-time with us in 2022 and has just recently (June 2024) returned to accept a full-time position as project manager. His presence will considerably expand our potential to undertake new projects.
